ISLE originated as the thesis project of Dr. Philipp Burckhardt, a current post-doc in Carnegie Mellon Department of Statistics & Data Science. It has been used in graduate and undergraduate courses at CMU since 2016. A Higher Education Beta Program was launched in 2020 with 10 learning institutions, serving greater than 3000 learners.
ISLE is also used in Industry Executive Education programs and internal Data Science Analysis and Collaboration.
